TessNode Help

User guide

Practical instructions for the current Windows app preview. Features and release details may change before public launch.

01 / Guide

Getting Started

Learn the library, make a first macro, and run it safely.

  1. Open TessNode and choose New macro. Quick action performs one task; Template Creator stores reusable text; Visual flow connects steps; Recorder captures actions you can edit.
  2. Give the macro a clear name, assign a folder if useful, and save it. Test with Run from the Macro library before assigning a shortcut.
  3. Keep your first flow small: Trigger → Question → Template → Final Action. Test with non-sensitive sample information.

Good to know Closing the library leaves TessNode running in the Windows notification area. Use the tray menu to reopen, pause, or quit.

02 / Guide

Installation

Prepare a Windows computer for the TessNode preview.

  1. TessNode is a Windows desktop app. Use a verified installer from the official Download page when a public installer becomes available; the release is currently in private testing.
  2. Run the installer, choose a location if prompted, and start TessNode from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
  3. If Windows or your organization blocks installation or keyboard automation, ask your administrator to review the app. Do not bypass workplace controls.
  4. Before moving to another computer, export a TessNode library package from Settings and store it securely. Import it on the destination computer.

Good to know The public installer, checksum, and final installation details will appear on the Download page when verified.

Creating Workflows

Connect a trigger, inputs, logic, content, and a final action.

  1. Choose New macro → Visual flow. Connect the Trigger node's next output to the first step.
  2. Add nodes from Favorites, Recently used, Categories, or the right-click canvas menu. Drag an output dot to an input dot to connect them.
  3. Use Question or Multiple Choice Menu to collect information. Save an answer as seller_name, for example, then insert it in a Template as {{seller_name}}.
  4. Finish with a Final Action to copy, paste, or open output in Notepad for review. Save and test with Run.

Good to know Choose several menus run selected branches in option order, then the common next path. Append each branch's text to one variable and use one final Template.

04 / Guide

Recording Actions

Capture only the events needed for a reliable first draft.

  1. Choose New macro → Recorder and name the recording.
  2. Select keyboard, clicks, mouse movement, scrolling, timing, active window, and window position as needed. Leave mouse movement off unless its path matters.
  3. Start recording, perform the task once, and stop using the recording control. TessNode creates an editable visual flow.
  4. Review generated steps, especially screen coordinates and delays, before using the macro for live work.

Good to know A recorded sequence may need adjustment when a page or window changes.

05 / Guide

Editing Nodes

Arrange, rewire, duplicate, and undo changes on the canvas.

  1. Click a node to edit its settings on the right. Pan and zoom the canvas to work on larger flows.
  2. Drag an output dot to an input, or onto empty canvas to open the node menu. Pull an incoming wire off an input to remove or rewire it.
  3. Right-click a node to duplicate it, or Alt-drag to copy while moving. Use Undo and Redo above the canvas for mistakes.
  4. Save before closing Visual Flow; stay in the editor if it warns about unsaved changes you want to keep.

06 / Guide

Conditions

Branch on answers or variables, including an optional blank answer.

  1. Add If / Else after the value you want to inspect. Enter its variable name without braces, choose a comparison, and connect true and false outputs.
  2. For optional short or long text, enable Allow blank answer in Question. Pressing Next without typing saves an empty value.
  3. Choose Is empty in If / Else: true receives blank answers and false receives filled answers. For several selected categories, append a line in each selected branch and combine them in one final Template.

Good to know Template builds output; it does not add to an earlier Template's output. Use Append or Prepend Variable to accumulate text.

07 / Guide

Loops

Repeat a bounded part of a flow deliberately.

  1. Add Repeat when connected steps should run more than once. Choose a fixed count or another supported mode in its settings.
  2. Connect loop to the repeated steps and done to the step after the loop. Give the flow a clear exit condition.
  3. Test with a small count and harmless action, inspect the result, and only then increase the count.

Good to know Avoid repeating clicks on changing screens without a wait or state check.

08 / Guide

Hotkeys

Choose shortcuts without locking a workflow to someone else's keys.

  1. For a Visual flow, select Trigger and record a shortcut. Other macro types offer shortcut setup in their editor. You can also run a macro from the library without a shortcut.
  2. If it does not fire, check that the macro and folder are active, the shortcut is not already assigned, and TessNode is not paused in the tray menu.
  3. Test shortcuts in a safe application first. Windows or another program may reserve some keys.

Troubleshooting

Find a disconnected step, inactive macro, or environment problem.

  1. Macro does not start: check its active switch, folder status, shortcut, and whether TessNode is running in the notification area.
  2. Flow stops at a node: read the runner message, then check the node's required settings and outgoing connection.
  3. Paste or click acts in the wrong place: confirm the intended window has focus and its layout has not changed.
  4. Import fails: use a TessNode JSON package exported by TessNode. Macro Express .mex files are not directly importable. Keep a backup before merging team updates.
  5. For a repeatable issue, use Settings → Open flow logs. Note the macro name, step, app version, and expected result. Remove passwords and customer data before sharing logs or screenshots.
